Own Your Slop!

Got Slop? Own It!

Nobody minds that a machine wrote the first draft. They mind that you didn't read it.

Forwarding unread AI output is how slop grenades get thrown. This is the pin.

Own Your Slop! is a free markdown reader that breaks your document into chunks and asks you to put your name to each one. Don't rush, or the slopometer will catch you!

Free · runs in your browser · your files never leave your machine

Go on, press it. This is how the reader works: one chunk at a time, and the green ownership bar only moves when you say so.

The slopometer

It knows when you're skimming.

Press faster than anyone could read and it climbs. Slow down and it drifts back. It never blocks you. It's there to be seen.

How it works

Read it, then sign it.

No account, no upload. Open a file, read it chunk by chunk, and take home a copy with your name on it.

01

Read it in pieces

Your markdown is split into paragraphs, or sentences for the high-stakes stuff, and shown one at a time. The green ownership bar only moves when you press the key, never by scrolling.

02

Put your name to it

Everything above the green ownership bar carries your ownership mark: your name, the time and a hash of the words. Change a word above it and the mark shows it is out of date.

03

Send it with confidence

Export the clean markdown to send, or the marked-up copy so a colleague can see what you changed, what you skipped and who stands behind it.

Four choices per chunk

Every paragraph gets a decision.

I own this Enter

You would say this yourself, as written. The green ownership bar moves past it.

Edit E

Change the words in place. Your changes are kept as marks: {~~old~>new~~}.

Remove X

Wrong, unnecessary or unverifiable. It stays in the record with your reason.

Skip S

Move on without owning it. The file shows exactly which passage nobody vouched for.

The marks

The file keeps the record.

Everything you do is written into the markdown as plain text, readable in any editor. Five marks are standard CriticMarkup; two are our own.

AdditionFinished {++two days early++}.

Why

Slop isn't what the machine wrote. Slop is what you sent without reading.

The draft was fine. The problem was the forward: three thousand words, nobody's eyes on them, your name at the top. Own Your Slop! makes the reading unskippable and leaves a mark that says you did it.

Got some slop to own?

Open a markdown file and start reading. It takes as long as the reading does. That's the point.
